INTERVIEW with King's Field IV Producer Shinichiro Nishida

The text below is from an interview of the Producer who worked on King's Field The Ancient City:

The heart of the design of this version of King's Field -The Ancient City - is: "Experience the actual atmosphere of the world."

Our aim was to create a 3D virtual Fantasy World where the player could feel even the deep and heavy atmosphere from the TV monitor. The player would experience the game as if he goes off on the real adventure. Of course, being attacked by monsters and using magic spells is something not experienced in our real world, but we tried to convey the sense that these were natural events in the King's Field universe. Our primary goal was to have the player feel that the experiences found in this title were a part of the natural world, no matter how fantastic.

The original King's Field was a launch title at the premier of the PlayStation® game console release. Since its inception, the King's Field series has provided RPG fans of all ages a most unique view of adventuring in a fantasy environment. A new platform, the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, and several advances in the art of game design and programming over the last 5 years has finally given the team at From Software a title worthy to continue the King's Field name into a new console. There have been many who have anticipated this next installment in the series and we believe that this game answers all of their expectations.

We had been searching for a way to bring the next generation of King's Field to the fans of the series in a way that utilizes the best technological advances as well as our accumulated experience that truly reflects From Software's game design and production skills. It was a process of determined trial and error and concentrated testing and evaluation that allowed us to achieve new system and event management programs that ultimately led to the completion of King's Field for PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system. With our best team efforts, we finally reached the release day for the newest King's Field in Japan and we slowly tarted feeling that the completion of this title was real.

As a note: This is not as easy game as you might think. Take your time, however, with this game as you explore an original fantasy world at your own pace, enjoying the unique experiences of King's Field for PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system.
